Studio Ongarato award win and Sustainability Impact Recognition at SEGD Global Design Awards 2025 for Potato Head

Studio Ongarato’s expertise in wayfinding has been acknowledged with both a Design Award and Sustainability Impact Recognition for Potato Head at the SEGD Global Design Awards 2025 on 14 November in San Francisco.

SEGD honours design excellence that connects people to place through storytelling, meaning, and impact.

Of the project, the jury commented “The connection between the architecture, material choices—construction by-products—and the locality of Bali makes the wayfinding system not only functional but also celebratory of sustainable local culture and a joy to the eye.”

“Somewhat understated yet impactful, this wayfinding system utilises a blend of recycled materials and clever forms to create a uniquely designed solution.”

Ronald Akili’s vision for Potato Head was to build a space for creative engagement, rather than consumption, by empowering design to foster a dialogue about ecological solutions for the greater good of the community. With these ambitions underpinning the project, SEGD’s sustainability impact recognition is particularly significant to our studio.
